Make The Most Beautiful, Supportive Bra You've Ever Worn
Is your ideal bra stylish, supportive and maybe even a little sexy? Sew undergarments with personalized style, comfort and support by joining me, fairy bra–mother and sewing expert Beverly Johnson. In my class Sewing Bras: Foam, Lace & Beyond, you'll continue to build your bra–making skills by learning techniques to personalize a pattern you already love.

In this class, you'll begin by learning how to enhance your bras with gorgeous lace on cups, bridges and bands. Then, I'll teach you how to work with fabric and add support with foam and pre–formed cups. By the end of class, you'll be able to confidently use these tricky materials to create gorgeous results.

We'll start with a quick refresh of working with stretch and non–stretch lace, before moving on to techniques for modifying your own well–fitting bra pattern to accept lace. You'll learn how to mirror and place lace, create a curved edge and make decorative stitch–and–flip cup linings. Move on to adding lacy details to your bridges and bands, for a luxurious, feminine look.

If creating a comfortable and supportive bra is your goal, this lesson on foam cups is just what you need! Since you already know how to construct an all–fabric bra, you'll learn new techniques for using cut–and–sew foam to make cups that fit and flatter. I'll help you modify your pattern, construct the cups and cover them with fabric or lace.

Once you can work with cut–and–sew foam, you'll find out how versatile it is as you sew a balconette and demi–cup bra. To make these ultra–fashionable styles, you'll get my tips for drafting patterns, adding gorgeous lace decoration and making a stunning shape with darts.

Love the look and support of pre–formed foam cups? I'll show you how to use these cups in your bras and explain the different types. You'll find the perfect fit, orientation, wire frame and shape for you. Then, I'll help you modify your bra pattern and incorporate the cups.

Elevate the style of your newly constructed cups with fashionable fabric! I'll guide you through choosing fabric, covering cups while avoiding wrinkles and finishing the edges. Plus, if you join me in Sewing Bras: Foam, Lace & Beyond, you'll even see how to place lace over your pre–formed foam cups.

I started teaching bra–making in 1995 after years of sewing my own dance costumes and swimwear. Soon after I started teaching, I opened Bra–Makers Supply, a wholesale and retail outlet for specialty fabrics and findings.

I still run Bra–Makers Supply, and today we have our own building in the heart of Hamilton, Ontario's fabric district. The building also has its own classroom where I continue to teach bra–making to home sewers and seamstresses alike.

Now, I get to bring this online Craftsy class to you in the comfort of your own home! You'll find creating a custom bra is easier when you can revisit the lessons anytime you like. By the end of class, you'll have the skills to add shape, support and decorative details to your favorite bra pattern. If you have any questions along the way, simply ask, and you'll receive an answer from me or a fellow student.

Learn the techniques to create a bra with the coverage, comfort and style that's perfect for you.
