In my class Sewing Bras: Foam, Lace & Beyond, you'll continue to build your bra–making skills by learning techniques to personalize a pattern you already love. In this class, you'll begin by learning how to enhance your bras with gorgeous lace on cups, bridges and bands. Then, I'll teach you how to work with fabric and add support with foam and pre–formed cups. By the end of class, you'll be able to confidently use these tricky materials to create gorgeous results. | | We'll start with a quick refresh of working with stretch and non–stretch lace, before moving on to techniques for modifying your own well–fitting bra pattern to accept lace. You'll learn how to mirror and place lace, create a curved edge and make decorative stitch–and–flip cup linings. Move on to adding lacy details to your bridges and bands, for a luxurious, feminine look.

Since you already know how to construct an all–fabric bra, you'll learn new techniques for using cut–and–sew foam to make cups that fit and flatter. I'll help you modify your pattern, construct the cups and cover them with fabric or lace.
Once you can work with cut–and–sew foam, you'll find out how versatile it is as you sew a balconette and demi–cup bra. To make these ultra–fashionable styles, you'll get my tips for drafting patterns, adding gorgeous lace decoration and making a stunning shape with darts. | | Love the look and support of pre–formed foam cups? I'll show you how to use these cups in your bras and explain the different types. You'll find the perfect fit, orientation, wire frame and shape for you. I started teaching bra–making in 1995 after years of sewing my own dance costumes and swimwear. Soon after I started teaching, I opened Bra–Makers Supply, a wholesale and retail outlet for specialty fabrics and findings. | | I still run Bra–Makers Supply, and today we have our own building in the heart of Hamilton, Ontario's fabric district. The building also has its own classroom where I continue to teach bra–making to home sewers and seamstresses alike.
